The Toronto Sceptres hosted the New York Sirens for their fifth matchup of the 2024-25 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. The Sceptres took the victory 2-1, thanks to Daryl Watts’ two goals.
Game Recap
With three minutes left in the first period, the Sceptres got on the board first. Off a missed pass by the Sirens, Daryl Watts picked up the puck and skated it up to the Sceptres’ offensive zone. From the center of the ice, she took a shot that rocketed past Corinne Schroeder.
A minute and 20 seconds into the second, Watts repeated her first-period success. Natalie Spooner passed the puck around the boards for Watts. She dropped it down to Anna Kjellbin at the blue line. Kjellbin passed it back to Watts who skated into the faceoff circle. Once Watts reached the edge, she let the puck fly, where it found its home in the back of the net. Greg Fargo challenged for goaltender interference, but the referees determined it was a good goal.

Ten minutes into the second period, the Sirens won the faceoff. The puck found Jamie Bourbonnais at the blue line. She passed to Ella Shelton to her left. Shelton took the shot and Alex Carpenter tipped it into the net to ensure the Sirens did not get shut out.
The third period was full of scoring chances and penalties. Each team took two penalties, but neither team could take advantage of their extra-player advantage. No goals were scored in the third, and the final came to a 2-1 score.
