Ducks’ Trevor Zegras to Have Hearing With the Department of Player Safety

On Sunday (Feb. 23), the Anaheim Ducks took on the Detroit Red Wings where the Red Wings took home the two points picking up a 5-4 win in overtime. In the game, forward Trevor Zegras tossed a late hit toward Red Wings’ forward Michael Rasmussen, who didn’t return to the game due to an injury from the hit. On Monday (Feb. 24) morning, it was announced that Zegras was going to have a hearing with the department of player safety because of the hit.

Zegras, who is 23 years old, has never been suspended before. He has been fined for slashing and has faced his fair share of criticism from fans for some of his antics on the ice, but he has a pretty clean record. He has played 34 games this season scoring seven goals and adding nine assists for 16 points. Throughout his career, he has scored 62 goals and added 108 assists for 170 points through 245 games which comes out to a 0.69 points-per-game average.

The expectation is the news will come later today, but either way, it seems as though he is going to face the first suspension of his career, which will be a huge blow to the Ducks.
