Florida Panthers Acquire Brad Marchand From Boston Bruins

The Florida Panthers have acquired Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins.

Marchand, the captain of the Bruins since 2022-23, has 21 goals and 47 points in 61 games with the Bruins this season. The 5-foot-9 winger is in the final season of an eight-year contract that has a cap hit of $6.125 million, with Boston retaining 50%, dropping his cap hit to $3.0625 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Florida adds one of the NHL’s most notorious agitators to a lineup that already has Matthew Tkachuk.

The return for Boston is a conditional second-round pick in 2027. The condition is that it could turn into a first-round pick in 2028 if Florida makes it to the Eastern Conference Final and if Marchand plays in at least half of Florida’s first and second-round playoff games.
