On Sunday, June 21, the Seattle Kraken extended forward Bobby McMann. Seattle signed him to a six-year deal with an average annual value (AAV) of $5.75 million.
McMann had an interesting lead into the NHL. He was undrafted but played with the Toronto Marlies, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, for two seasons. He signed with the Maple Leafs on April 29, 2022. He began his official NHL career in the 2022-23 season, but only played 10 games and recorded one assist.
McMann played his first full season in 2023-24, in which he played 56 games and recorded 24 points. He scored his first NHL goal on Dec. 16, 2023. For the 2024-25 season, McMann remained in Toronto, playing 74 games and recording 34 points.
Just like the season prior, McMann kicked off the 2025-26 season in Toronto. He played 60 games and recorded 32 points. On the last day of the trade deadline, the Maple Leafs traded McMann to Seattle in exchange for a 4th-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a conditional 2nd-round pick in 2027.
McMann didn’t begin playing with the Kraken right away due to visa issues. He eventually played his first game with his new team on March 14, 2026, and immediately made an impact. In just his first game with the Kraken, he scored two goals and recorded one assist, marking three points in his Seattle debut. He rounded out the season with a total of 14 points, via 10 goals and four assists, in 18 games with the Kraken.
Although McMann didn’t get to play with the Kraken right after he was traded to the team, his performance proved worth the visa hassle. He had great chemistry on the first line alongside center Matty Beniers and right wing and captain Jordan Eberle.
McMann was a great goal scorer for the team, which is also something the Kraken desperately need. Even though he didn’t record all of these points with the Kraken, he had the fourth-highest number of points on Seattle with 46. Now that McMann will be able to record all of his points in the Kraken’s black and teal, he is a valuable asset to this Seattle team.
