New York Sirens’ 3 Stars of March

March has come and gone, and for the New York Sirens in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), their performance was not the best. Their record for March was 1-5-0, with the only win coming at home on March 8 against the Ottawa Charge. They played in three Takeover Tours, in Denver, Chicago, and Detroit, dropping all three games. The games in Denver and Chicago were broken up by their final game against the Vancouver Goldeneyes.

Although this wasn’t a good month overall for the Sirens, there were still some players who had some great moments. Let’s look at the Sirens’ three stars of the month for March.

Honorable Mention – Taylor Girard

Taylor Girard had a strong start to the month, recording two goals against the Charge on March 8. This was her second game where she recorded multiple goals; her first was the Sirens’ season opener in Ottawa on Nov. 22, where she recorded her first-career PWHL hat trick.

On March 15, Girard only played 9:49 and had to be stretchered off the ice after an unfortunate hit went wrong. She was placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR), and although it wasn’t officially announced, she will likely be out for the remainder of the season.

Girard was having a strong season, recording a career-high eight points. Hoping for a quick recovery for her so she can get back on the ice for the 2026-27 season.

Third Star – Anna Bargman

Sirens’ rookie Anna Bargman has been coming into her own in her first season in the PWHL. She played all six games for the Sirens this month and recorded three points.

In Denver on March 15, Bargman recorded her first multi-point game. Although her team lost, she helped them try to secure the win by scoring a goal and an assist.

Bargman was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 PWHL Draft by the Sirens. Don’t let her position in the draft fool you, because she’s been having a great start in the league.

Second Star – Jaime Bourbonnais

Defender Jaime Bourbonnais has done a great job on the blue line this season, but in March, she began finding her scoring touch. She recorded five assists and had two in the Denver Takeover Tour game. Bourbonnais currently has 10 points for the season, and half of those were recorded in March.

Her career-high point total was recorded in the 2024 season, where she had 13. Even though there are only seven more games, she still has a chance to either tie or surpass that. The alternate captain is having a great season so far. Let’s hope she continues it into April.

First Star – Sarah Fillier

Speaking of alternate captains, the first star for April goes to the other alternate captain on the Sirens, Sarah Fillier. She had a stellar first season in 2024-25, which earned her the Rookie of the Year award. She recorded 29 points in 30 games, averaging just about a point per game.

This season, Fillier has been in a bit of a slump, but she has turned the corner in March. She scored her first goal since November on March 8 and didn’t stop there. She had two goals and an assist in that game, making this her first three-point game of the season. She went on to score two more goals this month, one against Vancouver and one against the Seattle Torrent.

Fillier has 16 points in 22 games this season. While she isn’t averaging a point per game like she did last season, she is still having a strong offensive season in her own right. The sophomore slump may be over now, and let’s hope that’s the case for both Fillier and the Sirens’ sake.

Sirens Kick Off April at Home

The Sirens will play their first game of the month on April 1 at the Prudential Center. They host the Minnesota Frost at 7 PM ET.

Every single point counts this month, and if they want to try and make a playoff push, the Sirens will need to be on their A-game.
