The Minnesota Frost and Ottawa Charge faced off for the fourth time this season on Friday night, Mar. 7, in Raleigh, North Carolina, as part of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour. The Frost had their full roster, while the Charge were missing Kateřina Mrázová. The goaltending matchup was between Maddie Rooney for the Frost and originally Emerance Maschmeyer for the Charge, but she was chased out for Gwyneth Philips.

After struggling to find the back of the net the past week, the Frost found it early in the game and didn’t stop. The game was quite physical on both sides and continued to escalate as the game went on. The Charge pressured but couldn’t find a way to get anything past Rooney, and the Frost took the 5-0 win and stopped their losing streak at two games.
Game Recap
It took a little over five minutes for the Frost to get on the board, and their captain, Kendall Coyne-Schofield, led the way with the first goal of the game. Denisa Křížová and Dominique Petrie assisted her to make it 1-0. The Frost built off that goal and added another one 10 minutes later, that time it was scored by Brooke McQuigge while she laid on her stomach and batted it just over Maschmeyer’s leg. Sophie Jaques and Grace Zumwinkle assisted her, and that gave them a two-goal lead.
The Frost added one more goal before the period ended as Křížová fumbled the puck a little as she took a shot but slid it through Maschmeyer’s five-hole to make it 3-0. Coyne-Schofield assisted her, and that was how the period ended. The Charge kept the Frost at bay in the second but could not add anything to the scoreboard for themselves.
In the third period, the Frost scored their fourth of the game, a goal by Jaques, to make it 4-0. Petrie had the lone assist. Towards the end of the period, Michela Cava recorded an empty-net goal to make it 5-0, securing the win and the shutout for Rooney.
The Frost will be back in action on Sunday, Mar. 9, on the road to face the Toronto Sceptres. The Charge will be off until Tuesday, Mar. 11, when they’ll be at home to host this same Frost team.
