Sabres Enter Week Second In Atlantic Division
The Sabres sit at 35-19-6 (76 points), putting them in sole possession of second place in the Atlantic Division. They have won three straight games since returning to action after the Olympic break. They’ve defeated the New Jersey Devils 2-1 on Feb. 25, the Florida Panthers 3-2 on Feb. 27, and the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 on Feb. 28.
The Sabres now sit just four points back of the Lightning for first in the division with two matchups against them, both in Buffalo.
NHL Trade Deadline Approaching
The 2026 NHL Trade Deadline is approaching, with the deadline set for Friday, March 6, at 3 pm ET. There will be teams trying to sell off pieces and others trying to add a few to help complete their rosters and compete for the Stanley Cup.
As for the Sabres, there have been multiple reports, including from Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, stating that the Sabres will be aggressive in adding to the roster around the trade deadline. Alex Tuch Contract Update
Alex Tuch is 29 years old and a pending unrestricted free agent. The Sabres and Tuch have not been super close to an agreement, as he wants around what LA Kings forward Adrian Kempe got on his extension earlier in the season.
The two parties have not talked about a contract much since Jarmo Kekalainen became the team’s general manager. Tuch will be on the Sabres after the trade deadline, and the two parties will push hard to reach an agreement after the season concludes.
