The St. Louis Blues were founded in 1967 as one of the six teams of the 1967 NHL Expansion and is named after the W. C. Handy song “Saint Louis Blues.” They had immediate success and reached the playoffs nine times in their first 10 seasons, including trips to the Stanley Cup Final in their first three seasons; however, they lost all three appearances. In total, the Blues have been a very successful franchise with 45 playoff appearances in 56 seasons. In 2019, they won their first Stanley Cup against the Boston Bruins. 

Blues Transferring Prospect Otto Stenberg to AHL Springfield

While the St. Louis Blues are trying to fight for playoff contention, they have transferred prospect Otto Stenberg to the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Springfield Thunderbirds on Jan. 12. The Columbus Blue Jackets hadn’t won four games in a row since February 2022. Saturday night in St. Louis, they achieved their first four-game winning streak since.
