Patrick Maroon Dealt to Edmonton

In a late move, the Anaheim have made a trade with the Edmonton Oilers that will send Patrick Maroon to the Oilers in exchange for a prospect and a pick.

This season with the Ducks, Maroon’s scored four times while earning nine assists in 56 games.

He’s got a career-high 26 goals and 53 assists in 204 NHL games with the Ducks.

Maroon signed a three-year deal back in August, 2014 that had a value of $6 million dollars and an AAV of $2 million dollars.

Earlier in the day, Anaheim struck a deal with the Buffalo Sabres that sent Jamie McGinn to Anaheim in exchange for a conditional third-round pick.

It appears as though McGinn will fill the void that Maroon is leaving.

Update:

In return for Maroon, Anaheim will receive a fourth-round pick in 2016, and prospect Martin Gernat.

Gernat was drafted by the Oilers 122nd overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, he’s played three seasons with the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons and Bakersfield Condors.

In 22 games, the 22 year-old has no goals and three assists to his credit this season.
