The Florida Panthers missed the playoffs this season, after winning the Stanley Cup for the previous two seasons, and it seems as though it was a one-off, and they hope to get back into playoff contention by next season.
One player from those winning teams who many fans will be keeping an eye on is Sergei Bobrovsky, who could be hitting the open market. With plenty of teams looking to improve their goaltending depth this offseason, several teams could be interested in adding the veteran.

In this article, we take a look at four potential free agent destinations for Bobrovsky.
Florida Panthers
Bobrovsky returning to the Panthers is a strong possibility, even after a tough campaign. Through 52 games, he posted a 3.07 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .877 save percentage (SV%), winning 27 of them and posting four shutouts.
Despite a tough season, Bobrovsky was the starter when the Panthers won back-to-back championships, and there is some loyalty between the two sides.
Bobrovsky would likely take a pay cut to stay with the Panthers, but if they see a younger goaltender who could be their new starter, they could choose to go in a different direction.
Edmonton Oilers
Every time there is speculation about a goaltender, expect the Edmonton Oilers to be linked in some way.
After trading Stuart Skinner to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a deal that involved Tristan Jarry coming back their way, fans hoped that could finally be the answer to their problems, but injury issues and inconsistency proved to be issues for the newcomer. Connor Ingram was solid, but the duo of Ingram and Jarry wasn’t strong enough to help the Oilers get out of the first round.
Adding a veteran in Bobrovsky to go alongside Jarry would stabilize their tandem heading into the 2026-27 season. It isn’t the most ideal combination, but with Connor Ungar coming up through their system and rumours linking them to another prospect goaltender in the trade market, they can rely on a veteran duo for a couple of seasons as they try to push for their first Stanley Cup since 1990.
San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks are an interesting choice for Bobrovsky, but running a tandem of Bobrovsky and Yaroslav Askarov could be exactly what they need to make a push for a playoff spot next season.
Alex Nedeljkovic is signed for two more seasons, but after a season where the Sharks showed they were super close to being back in the playoff picture, they could benefit from having Bobrovsky between their pipes instead of Nedeljkovic.
The Sharks should easily find a way to trade Nedeljkovic to a team that needs goaltending depth, and could probably fill another need in that deal.
Bobrovsky and Askarov are a stronger tandem than Nedeljkovic and Askarov, and while it could be a stretch, they may try to upgrade if Bobrovsky hits the open market.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to make some changes under new management, and one thing they could look to upgrade is their goaltending. If they trade one of their goaltenders, they could target Bobrovsky.
The Maple Leafs need someone who can handle the pressure of a big market when they get into big games in the postseason, and Bobrovsky is the perfect goaltender for them. The Maple Leafs are just a few tweaks away from getting back into playoff contention, and adding a future Hall of Fame goaltender is one of those few moves that make them a serious contender again.
