As the offseason moves along, trade rumors continue to circulate around several big names around the NHL. One name that has been tossed around for almost a full season now, is New York Rangers‘ forward Vincent Trocheck, who was believed to be available around the 2026 Trade Deadline.
The Rangers never pulled the trigger on a move at that point, but it seems as though they are open to revisiting moving him this offseason, with their asking price remaining quite high at this point.

One team that makes a lot of sense to land Trocheck, is the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins had a solid 2025-26 campaign, but will be looking to have a deeper run into the playoffs next season, and one way of doing that is adding more firepower to their forward core. While the asking price is significant, the Bruins could benefit from taking a swing and bringing in Trocheck.
In this article, we will take a quick look at a mock trade sending Trocheck to the Bruins. Keep in mind, this deal is simply hypothetical, and there are no indications that the Bruins and Rangers have had discussions regarding a Trocheck deal.
Bruins Spend Big & Land Trocheck
Trocheck, who is 32 years old, scored 16 goals and added 37 assists for 53 points through 67 games with the Rangers last season. Throughout his career, he has scored 239 goals and added 392 assists for 631 points through 868 games played.
The asking price set by the Rangers for Trocheck was rumored to be astronomical. With that in mind, the Bruins are likely looking at moving a prospect and several picks to get a deal done.
Realistically, the Bruins acquire Trocheck in exchange for Cooper Simpson, a 2026 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and one of their 2026 fourth-round picks.
At first glance, that looks like a lot, and it is. However, in an offseason with a weaker free agent class than usual, teams are going to have to overpay if they want to improve. Trocheck may not be the best player in the league by any means, but he would still be a good fit for the Bruins, and if they want to go all-in, sometimes they have to make sacrifices.
The Rangers get a solid prospect in Simpson, who spent the 2025-26 campaign in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Youngstown Phantoms, where he scored 34 goals and added 40 assists for 74 points through 61 games.
On top of that, they add two first-round picks, a second-round pick in a stacked draft class, and another mid-round draft pick that helps them bolster their prospect pool.
With Dylan Larkin requesting a trade a little while ago, teams may have Trocheck as a backup plan if they miss out on Larkin, so I wouldn’t expect him to be traded any time soon. Nothing against Trocheck at all, but if teams have a shot at landing Larkin, they should wait that out before they pivot to someone else.
With that being said, I fully expect trade talks to pick up around Trocheck around the draft. We’ll see what a return looks like, but I would expect it to be a monstrous trade return for the Rangers, who are going to focus on continuing their retool, before shifting back into trying to contend in a couple of seasons.
