Coyotes Give Patrick Dwyer PTO, Cut Joey Crabb

The Arizona Coyotes have brought in another player on a professional tryout, with the signing of former Carolina Hurricanes forward Patrick Dwyer to a PTO, according to David Vest of Coyotes.com. The team has also removed one of their players on a tryout, including Joey Crabb in their first series of roster cuts from camp.

Dwyer was a 4th round draft pick by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2002, but has only played NHL games with the Hurricanes in his career, playing 416 games spread over seven seasons.

The 32-year-old right wing played 71 games for the ‘Canes last season, posting five goals and seven assists.

Crabb signed a PTO with the Coyotes earlier this month, prior to the start of training camp on Friday. He is now a free agent. Crabb last played NHL games in the 2013-14 season, when he played nine games for the Florida Panthers.

Also among those cut from camp was 2015 1st round draft pick (30th overall) Nick Merkley, who will return to the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL for the 2015-16 season. Merkley signed his entry-level contract in early September.
