Cody Eakin Suffers Lower-Body Injury

Dallas Stars center Cody Eakin suffered a lower-body injury Friday during the team’s first day of training camp, reports Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.

Eakin will sit out of Saturday’s practice, but the injury is “not expected to be serious.”

He joins a growing number of key players on the Stars starting camp with an injury. Radek Faksa is expected to sit out until early next week with concussion-like symptoms stemming from a hit at the World Cup.

Tyler Seguin is still nursing an injury and Jamie Benn missed the World Cup to continue recovering from offseason surgery. The good news is that, at this point, there isn’t an expectation that any will still be on the shelf when the regular season kicks off in October.

Eakin scored 16 goals and 35 points in 82 games for the Stars last year.
