The milestones just keep coming for New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier. Shortly after playing in his 500th NHL game, he earned another accomplishment against the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday night. Hischier notched his 400th career NHL point after scoring a goal during the first period.
It’s no secret that he has been the driving force behind the Devils all season long. Whether he’s taking draws in the faceoff circle or finding the back of the net, his 200-foot game remains something special. He has 25 goals so far this season, second only to his alternate captain, Jack Hughes.

With eight points in his last six games, Hischier’s offensive production cannot be understated. Not only does he have a 60.8 on-ice goals percentage, but he ranks in the 98th percentile in high-danger shots on goal as well. He is also excellent at drawing penalties, which has led to countless scoring opportunities for the Devils.
Hischier remains a key part of the Devils’ top-six forward group and is a force to be reckoned with on the power play. This season, he already has a career-high with nine power-play goals. He also has a 62.7 faceoff win percentage on the man advantage and has created 37 high-danger scoring chances for the Devils.
Despite missing time after suffering an oblique injury, the Devils’ captain is back and better than ever. He has made it to the postseason only twice in his career, but the Devils remain on the prowl for a playoff spot this season. New Jersey has faced plenty of difficulties over the last few months, but one thing is certain: Hischier is the Devils’ fearless leader through thick and thin.
