Throughout the Florida Panthers’ history, several sets of brothers have played for the team. This offseason, the Panthers acquired what could be the best to wear the Panthers sweater. The current benchmark is most likely the productive duo of Pavel and Valeri Bure. What would it take for the Tkachuk brothers to unseat the dynamic Bure duo? Let’s examine the history of the brothers who both played with the Panthers and how the Tkachuk brothers would compare.
Pavel and Valeri Bure
While with the Panthers, Pavel and Valeri Bure appeared in a combined 355 games and registered 185 goals and 155 assists. They totaled 340 points over the seven seasons they played together. They finished with a minus-2, 176 penalty minutes, and 114 points on the man advantage. Until the acquisition of the second Tkachuk, this might be the best set of brothers for their play as Panthers. Pavel is a franchise legend, and Valeri was a valuable contributor for a few seasons.
Eric and Marc Staal
As members of the Panthers, Eric and Marc Staal appeared in 154 games and contributed 17 goals and 27 assists for a total of 44 points. They finished with a combined plus-5 and logged 69 penalty minutes while wearing the Panthers sweater. They both joined late in their careers and contributed during an era of team success. This wasn’t the best iteration of either of these Staals, but they still joined together to add productive seasons to the club.
Adam and Jesper Boqvist
As members of the Panthers, the brother duo of Adam and Jesper Boqvist appeared in a total of 169 games. In that span, they registered 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points. They finished with a combined minus-19 and 36 penalty minutes. They posted a total of four power-play points between them. Adam had a short stay with the Panthers, and Jesper had a longer stay before this offseason, being dealt to the Devils in the trade that, in part, reacquired Jacob Markstrom.
Matt and Mark Cullen
During their stays in South Florida, Matt and Mark Cullen played in 92 combined games. In that span, they registered 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points. They finished with a combined minus-4 and contributed 48 penalty minutes. They contributed five power-play points during their stint with the Panthers organization. Matt had a lengthy NHL career, with one noteworthy stop in South Florida. Mark had a much shorter career with a stop with the Panthers along the way.
Brad and Jeff Norton
While with the Panthers, Brad and Jeff Norton appeared in a combined 73 games. In that span, they both had a total of zero goals and 13 assists for a total of 13 points. They finished as a combined minus-14 and registered 73 penalty minutes. Jeff had a much longer career and was a serviceable defenseman for a long time. Brad, in comparison, had a much shorter career, playing in 124 games while his brother played in nearly 800.
Matthew and Brady Tkachuk
Matthew Tkachuk has been a Panther for a few seasons now, but what’s different heading into the 2026-27 season is that he will be joined by his brother Brady for the first time in the NHL. They have previously played together in two international competitions for Team USA. At the 4 Nations Face-Off, they combined for seven games with five goals and one assist for six points. They tallied 10 total penalty minutes and finished the tournament with a plus-3.

Meanwhile, at the Olympics, the Tkachuk brothers combined for 12 games with three goals and eight assists for 11 points. They logged 24 penalty minutes in Milan and finished the tournament with a plus-12.
The Tkachuks have a history of being tremendously productive on their own. Matthew has seen plenty of success in both Calgary and Florida, and Brady has been a dominant scorer in Ottawa. Can their individual NHL success, and international success together, translate into a big impact for the Panthers? It remains to be seen how much they play together on the ice, but they have clicked in the past, and having them apart adds another dimension to deal with as an opponent.
The Panthers have had multiple sets of brothers, and perhaps they have acquired the most noteworthy duo of the bunch. It remains to be seen how they play together on the same NHL team, but if they can achieve the level of team success that most anticipate, they could become the best set of brothers to play for the Panthers.
