Kraken Call Up Niklas Kokko From Coachella Valley

Ales Stezka made his NHL debut last night with the Seattle Kraken. He allowed three goals, and the Kraken ultimately fell 4-1. This was not the outcome that they wanted. It seems the Kraken have given up on Stezka backing up Joey Daccord for the time being. On Feb. 24, they announced that they had recalled goaltender Niklas Kokko from the Coachella Valley Firebirds. They also sent Stezka down to Coachella, as well as defenseman Cale Fleury.

Kokko was drafted by the Kraken in 2022. He was selected in the second round, 58th overall.

The 2024-25 season is his first season playing with the Firebirds. He has played in 21 games so far, earning 15 wins. His save percentage (SV%) is currently .909 with a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.44. He has been an incredible goalie for Coachella Valley as the team is vying for a playoff spot.

The Kraken will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 25, when they play the St. Louis Blues. Kokko will more than likely back up Daccord in net for this game.
