Mark Stone Will Have Player Safety Hearing for Halloween Hit

Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone has a date with the Department of Player Safety on Monday, the DoPS announced Sunday afternoon.

The hearing is for a head shot on Detroit Red Wings’ rookie Landon Ferraro in Saturday’s 5-3 loss.

Following the hit, Stone was assessed a two-minute minor for an illegal hit to the head. Stone doesn’t have a big history of discipline, but it looks from most every angle that the first point of contact is the head.

Stone has had a very good start to the season with three goals and 10 assists through 11 games. Missing Stone for any amount of time will be a blow to the middling Senators. He’s been a key to the success they’ve had.
