Penguins Sign Andrei Kuzmenko to 1-Year Contract

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Andrei Kuzmenko to a one-year contract with a $5 million average annual value (AAV).

Kuzmenko went undrafted but made it to the NHL when the Vancouver Canucks signed him to an entry-level contract in July 2022. He played his first season in 2022-23, where he recorded 74 points in 81 games. He remained with the Canucks for another half a season before he was traded to the Calgary Flames. He finished out the 2023-24 season with Calgary and began the 2024-25 season there as well.

In the middle of that season, he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, butt didn’t remain here long, only playing seven games before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings. Kuzmenko finished out the 2024-25 season with his third team and spent all of the 2025-26 season in Los Angeles as well.

Throughout four seasons in the NHL, he has recorded 182 points (85 goals and 97 assists) in 271 games.

Penguins Add Great Scoring Depth

The Penguins have gained a great forward in Kuzmenko. Of course, he had a stellar first NHL season, and most people always compare that production to everything else he has done. Sure, he has slowed down a little bit, but it doesn’t help that he has bounced between teams and has had no time to develop chemistry with his teammates.

Kuzmenko is a solid player who can slot in to either the top six or the bottom six. He is not afraid to eat up minutes and try to produce offensive chances either for himself or for his teammates. Even though nothing he has done since his first NHL season can compare to it, he is still a strong offensive forward who can be successful.

Kuzmenko is 30 years old but still has some strong years ahead of him. Now, with Pittsburgh, he has the chance to continue to prove his skills and talent.
