Jets Clinch First Place in Central Division and Western Conference

The Winnipeg Jets have clinched first place in the Central Division and Western Conference for the first time in Jets 2.0 history.

With their magic number sitting at one entering play Saturday, all the Jets had to do to clinch both first-place spots was to force overtime in their road matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks, and they did so with a late third-period goal by Josh Morrissey to draw even 4-4. The Jets won in a shootout to boost their point total to 114, which the Dallas Stars cannot match or overcome.

By finishing first in the Western Conference, the Jets will face the second Western-Conference wild-card team in the first round of the playoffs. The St. Louis Blues occupied that spot at time of publication.
