Tuesday night in the National Hockey League gave us a winning streak halted, a scoring streak continued, two overtime games, 56 goals, and I am certain plenty more. Let’s get started.
Tarasenko Lights the Lamp Again
One of the funnest players to watch the past several days has been Vladimir Tarasenko of the St. Louis Blues. After a spectacular goal on Monday night against the Rangers, Tarasenko scored the lone goal in Tuesday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils. He now has scored a goal in three straight games, and scored one or more in four of his last five games. If that isn’t enough the Blues have won six games in a row.

It should also be added that Jake Allen recorded his second shutout in a row and has started just four games (3-1-0, 1.00 GAA). The St. Louis Blues are in first place in the Western Conference’s Central Division.

Blackhawks Trounce Habs, 5-0
After dropping their last two games, the Chicago Blackhawks got out of their funk in a big way Tuesday night against the Montreal Canadiens. It has been pretty well documented around the hockey community about Chicago having a difficult time lighting the lamp. Tuesday night they tried their best to show that there is nothing to worry about. Ten Blackhawks recorded at least one point with Kris Versteeg leading the way with two goals. Corey Crawford was the benefactor of the offense and did his part by not allowing any of the Habs shot to hit the back of the net.

Marchand’s Overtime Goal Sneaks Bruins Past Panthers
With a little more than :90 remaining in overtime, Bruins Brad Marchand beats Roberto Luongo on a fancy goal to help the Bruins to their third win in a row. Both teams are off Wednesday night before the Bruins play host to the Edmonton Oilers and the Panthers continue their road trip that brings them to Philadelphia on Thursday.
With his goal and assist on a Patrice Bergeron goal, Marchand has now recorded at least one point in his last three games. Bruins goalie Tuuka Rask has won his last two starts, and four out of his last five.

Flyers Take Down Oilers Thanks to Voracek
Jakub Voracek scored two goals including the game-winner for the Flyers who are trying to get back to their winning ways after dropping their last two. Another thing of note is Flyers’ goalie Steve Mason turned away 35 shots to record his first win of the season.

Pens Beat Wild, 4-1
One of the games I was looking most forward to watching on Tuesday was Pittsburgh vs Minnesota. It was a game I dubbed in Tuesday’s news as a possible Stanley Cup preview. Pens fans would rejoice, Wild fans would come after me with torches after the game.
The Penguins offense was spread out handsomely among 10 players with Malkin and Crosby only chipping in helpers. Thomas Greiss started his second game of the season for Pittsburgh recording the win turning away 33-of-34 advances by the Wild.

Another successful Tuesday in the NHL. Only three games on the Schedule for Wednesday including an Original Six matchup with the Detroit Red Wings facing off against the New York Rangers.
