The New York Rangers have signed forward Jarret Stoll to a one-year contract, the team announced on Monday. The deal carries a value of $800,000, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.
In 73 games with the Los Angeles Kings last season, he scored six goals and 11 assists while averaging just 15:29 of ice time per night, the lowest ATOI he’s had since his rookie season with the Edmonton Oilers.
The free agent is coming off a three-year deal with the Kings that carried an AAV of $3.25 million.
Notably, the 33-year-old was arrested back in April on drug charges, reportedly cocaine possession, in Las Vegas. Charges were pressed in June, before being dismissed shortly thereafter.

Stoll may be a part of a mini-signing frenzy of veteran free agents who are still available on the market at this late stage of the offseason. Veteran center Matt Cullen signed a similar deal — one year, $800,000 — with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. The market is still full of veteran talent who can contribute in a depth role and may need to consider signing at a discount. Among many, Brad Boyes, Sean Bergenheim, Christian Ehrhoff and Cody Franson still remain unsigned.
