The Dallas Stars were founded during the 1967 NHL Expansion as the Minnesota North Stars. In 1978, the team merged with the Cleveland Barons due to financial struggles in a move that proved successful as they reached two Stanley Cup Finals. Following the move, the Stars found success and won the 1999 Stanley Cup in their sixth season in Dallas. They followed that up with Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2000.
