The NWHL’s Buffalo Beauts have signed forward Meghan Duggan, captain of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team, Beauts general manager Linda Mroz announced Saturday.
The signing gives the Beauts a formidable offensive force up front, as well as a little star power on the roster sheet.
In addition to leading the U.S. National Team to a silver medal at Sochi in 2014 and playing for the silver medal-winning U.S. team at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Duggan played collegiate hockey at the University of Wisconsin. As a Badger, she won the 2011 Patty Kazmaier Award for the best player in women’s hockey during her senior season.
Her time in Madison was a period through which the Badgers were dominant. The team won three national championships, with Duggan putting up 238 points through 159 games, earning two All-WCHA First Team honors and one First Team All-American mention.
