Chicago Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teravainen suffered an upper body injury during Wednesday’s overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers, the team announced during the game.
He took just two shifts during the second period before heading down the tunnel, with the team announcing shortly after that he wouldn’t return to the game.
It wasn’t immediately clear where during the game Teravainen got injured, if the injury actually occurred during the game.
Following the match, head coach Joel Quenneville said that Teravainen’s injury was “not serious” and that the team considers him to be day-to-day.
Asked if Teravainen will be in the lineup on Friday against the Calgary Flames, Quenneville offered, “we’ll see.”
Teravainen has already tied career-high totals in goals and assists with four goals and five assists through 18 games. He hit those same totals through 36 games last season.
Chicago will play their next five games on the road, as their annual circus road trip continues through the end of the month.
