The NWHL announced Tuesday that Boston Pride forward Brianna Decker and Buffalo Beauts defenseman Megan Bozek have been named the NWHL Players of the Series for the opening round of the Isobel Cup Playoffs.
For her part, Decker potted a pair of goals and an assist in the Pride’s Game One win over the New York Riveters. In Saturday’s series-clinching win, she contributed another goal and an assist, helping the Pride to a 7-4 victory.
The Pride shutout the Riveters 6-0 in Game One and swept the series.
At the other end of the bracket, the Buffalo Beauts shocked the Connecticut Whale, winning the final two games of the three-game series to upset the number two seed Whale. Bozek sunk the Game Three game-winner, her second goal of the game.
It’s Bozek’s second Player of the Week honor and Decker’s league-leading third. The only other player to win the award more than once this season is Kelley Steadman.
Other recipients of Player of the Week honors this season were Shiann Darkangelo, Jillian Dempsey, Molly Engstrom, Meghan Fardelmann, Nana Fujimoto, Zoe Hickel, Hilary Knight, Shenae Lundberg, Brianne McLaughlin, Brittany Ott, Devon Skeats, Jordan Smelker, Kelli Stack and Danielle Ward, who all won the award once.
The Isobel Cup Championship starts Friday between the Boston Pride and Buffalo Beauts.
