The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Gustav Forsling to a three-year, entry-level contract. Forsling, 19, was acquired by Chicago in Jan. 2015 in a trade that sent Adam Clendening to the Vancouver Canucks.
He was originally drafted in the fifth round (126 overall) in 2014 by the Canucks.

Forsling has played the last two seasons in the Swedish Hockey League with Linkopings HC. He played 86 games in that span, scoring nine goals and 27 total points. He also added one goal and three points in six postseason games.
Forsling also played for Sweden’s World Junior Championship team in 2015, recording three goals and eight points and leading all defensemen in scoring.
According to the original report, the contract contains a clause that will allow Forsling to return to Sweden in the event he doesn’t make the Blackhawks next season.
