Arizona State Unveils Inaugural Season Jerseys

The Arizona State University Sun Devils are about set for their inaugural season of Division I hockey. On Friday the team unveiled their good-looking jerseys for the year.

The jerseys were created in collaboration with Adidas and CCM and feature a few nice flourishes, including the captains patch coming in the shape of the state of Arizona. The team, in their announcement, also notes a special feature of their jerseys. “Both jerseys feature effects seen if inspected closely. They both have small, sublimated pitchforks inside the numbers on the back of the jerseys.”

The team will play their first ever game as a Division I program against the Arizona Wildcats (ACHA) at Gila River Arena in Glendale, home of the Arizona Coyotes on October 3.

Unfortunately for ASU’s budding fans, the Sun Devils won’t play against a DI hockey team at home until January 8, when they take on Yale as a part of a tournament that will also feature Michigan Tech and UCONN. Those games will take place at Gila River Arena as well.

Before that time, the team will take on Southern New Hampshire University (ACHA) and University of Alberta (CIS) in Tempe, AZ.

In fact, that tournament is the only time that DI hockey comes to Arizona to face ASU all season. Other home games include ASU facing Ohio (ACHA), University of Wisconsin Eau Claire (NCAA DIII), Liberty (ACHA) and the U.S. National Development Team (USHL) in Arizona.
