Avalanche Sign 2015 Draft Pick Mikko Rantanen

The Colorado Avalanche have signed prospect Mikko Rantanen to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Rantanen was the 10th overall pick at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft after scoring nine goals and 19 assists for TPS Turku in the Finnish Elite League, where he was the alternate captain last season.

While he’s just 18, Rantanen boasts some impressive size for a player of his skill level, standing 6 foot 4, 211 pounds. In addition to playing against men at a young age, Rantanen has an impressive international resume, playing for Finland at the 2015 World Juniors, where he scored four goals in five games.

He has also represented his country at the 2014 U18 and U17 tournaments (two goals, five assists in five games) and the 2013 Ivan Hlinka tournament (three goals, four assists in five games).
