On Saturday, Nov. 7, the New Jersey Devils will play against the New York Islanders for the two teams’ second game of the 2026-27 season. The Devils played their first road game of the season against the Islanders on Oct. 3. The Devils faced a hard loss in this game, their first one of the season, with a 6-0 shutout.
In their last few games, the Devils are on a three-game winning streak. The Islanders, on the other hand, are on a two-game losing streak.
Devils Storylines
In the past few seasons, the Devils haven’t had the greatest luck against the Islanders. The Devils last scored at UBS Arena on Dec. 23, 2025. In their two games back on the Island since then, the Devils lost 9-0 on Jan. 6, 2026, last season, and then lost 6-0 on Oct. 3.
To make matters even worse, the Devils have not won on Long Island since March 24, 2024. The Devils shut out the Islanders 4-0 in this game, in which Kaapo Kahkonen was the goaltender at the time. It has been over two years since the Devils won at UBS Arena and just under a year since they last scored a goal there. Something has to give in this game to get New Jersey back on top.
In the Devils’ last two games, they have started goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. On the Island, they are projected to start Jake Allen. He last played in the Devils’ road trip game at the Colorado Avalanche, where the home team took a 5-2 win.

Allen has been solid for the Devils, ahead of the Hellebuyck acquisition. His current record for the season sits at 5-3-0. He celebrated his 500th NHL game earlier this season, which is such a great accomplishment for a goaltender to achieve. To continue playing at the caliber he has been this season is a great achievement for Allen. Let’s hope he can stay strong in this game and help his team pull out the win.
My player to watch in this game is Jesper Bratt. He scored the game-winning goal against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. The Blues clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit in the third period, forcing the game to go into overtime. Thanks to Bratt, he made sure St. Louis’ comeback didn’t result in two points for them.
