Mike Brown Heads to Columbus on PTO

Pugilist Mike Brown has accepted a PTO with the Columbus Blue Jackets, reports Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.

The veteran winger started last season on the tail end of a two-year deal with the San Jose Sharks. He grabbed 44 games under new head coach Pete DeBoer, scoring one goal and three points, along with 63 penalty minutes before he was claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens one day prior to the trade deadline.

He finished out the season with the Habs, playing 14 contests and scoring a goal and an assist with 27 penalty minutes.

The Blue Jackets are also bringing in former Minnesota Wild center Jarret Stoll on a PTO. They may be looking to produce some forward competition at camp with a few fringe players hoping to force management’s hand and give them a spot, including Sonny Milano, Markus Hannikainen, Oliver Bjorkstrand and third overall pick in the 2016 draft Pierre-Luc Dubois.
