Here is the Buffalo Sabres’ weekly news, rumors and the latest reports for the week of June 15 – 21, 2026.
Rasmus Dahlin Selected to NHL Second All-Star Team
The NHL announced their All-Star Teams and All-Rookie Teams last week. The Sabres had one notable name fall on a team. That player was defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, who was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team.
Dahlin finished third in Norris Trophy voting this season after recording 74 points (19 goals, 55 assists), with 79 blocked shots, 67 hits and a plus-18 rating in 77 games played. All of that came while leading the Sabres to their first Atlantic Division title and ending their playoff drought.
He finished sixth in the voting for both 2022-23 and 2024-25 and is the Sabres’ first selection since Ryan Miller in 2009-10, who was selected to the First All-Star Team.
Konsta Helenius Named to 2025-26 AHL Top Prospects Team
Konsta Helenius was named to the American Hockey League (AHL) Top Prospects Team for the 2025-26 season. He recorded 63 points in 63 games played for the Rochester Americans.
Helenius was drafted 14th overall during the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and has impressed everyone in his first two seasons in the Sabres organization. He got a taste of NHL action this season when he got called up for nine games in January, and yet he was still ninth in the AHL in scoring.
The AHL Top Prospects Team is selected by the league’s hockey operations department and general managers, and it includes three forwards, two defensemen and one goalie. To qualify, skaters must be 22 years old or younger on AHL opening night and play in 30 or fewer NHL regular-season games.
Owen Power Trade Rumors Yet Again
Over the last couple of summers, defenseman Owen Power has been discussed in trade rumors around the league. I thought maybe he might not be this summer, but I was wrong. David Pagnotta with The Fourth Period mentioned that some teams are curious if the Sabres would end up trading Power to help make up for the loss of Alex Tuch.
For me, it does not make sense to entertain any offers. We saw it all season that the Sabres’ blue line thrived offensively, and their defensemen were active with the puck in every game – and that includes Power. Breaking up their top-four makes no logical sense as they can keep one of the best blue lines in the league while replacing Tuch’s production.
The Sabres get Helenius for a full season, another year of Zach Benson, and Noah Ostlund is entering his second season and will only get better. The Sabres are fine with Tuch’s departure, and they can replace him fine without trading Power.
