St. Louis Blues’ 2026-27 Standout Games to Watch

The 2026-27 St. Louis Blues schedule is here. We had the draft, free agency is open, and now we have the schedule. Hockey truly is right around the corner.

On Thursday, the NHL released the full 84-game schedule for each team. Let’s take a look at the standout games that await the Blues in the 2026-27 season. We will look at two standout matchups from each month.

Oct. 2 at Dallas Stars (Season Opener)

The Blues start the new season on the road and will battle the rival Dallas Stars. The two teams always have contests, so we should be in for an exciting game right away. For the Blues, newcomers like Mason McTavish and Connor McMichael will make their official Blue Note debut.

For the Stars, the big question as of now is whether or not Jason Robertson is still on the team. If he is not, who is replacing him? These questions will be answered soon enough.

Oct. 8 vs. San Jose Sharks (Home Opener)

A fun matchup awaits the Blues for their first game at Enterprise Center. Macklin Celebrini and the San Jose Sharks come to town. Celebrini, fresh off a 45-goal and 115-point season, may not even be the main attraction of the game. Ivar Stenberg, the second-overall pick in this summer’s draft, will take the ice against the Blues, and possibly against his brother, Otto.

A brother vs. brother matchup and a generational talent emerging as the best player in the league coming to town? This could be the most anticipated home opener since the Blues raised their Stanley Cup banner.

Nov. 14 vs. Florida Panthers

Matthew and Brady Tkachuk will be playing together in St. Louis for the first time in their hockey career. This will be a special moment to witness, as the Tkachuk brothers are a strong part of St. Louis’s hockey history. However, the Blues will hope to beat this powerhouse team on home ice once again, even if it takes another last-second goal, as it did last season.

Matthew and Brady may not be the main attraction, though. With both brothers in town, the Blues organization could see this as an appropriate night to retire Keith Tkachuk‘s No. 7. It was announced that Keith will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Nov. 9. What better way to continue the celebration than by retiring his number on the night his boys are in town?

Nov. 28 vs. Washington Capitals

Jordan Kyrou returns to St. Louis for the first time since being traded to the Washington Capitals this summer. The Toronto native had a productive Blues career, but it also included some struggles and fan frustration. How will the fans respond to his return? They will likely show appreciation for the good times, but no one will be staying out of their seat for long.

Fans will, however, give a big ovation to Kyrou’s new teammate, Alex Ovechkin. Ovechkin is coming back for his 22nd season, but could it be his last? The all-time leader in goals turns 41 in September. He has not given any indication one way or the other, but if you want to see the “Great 8,” you should try to go to this game, just in case. Ovechkin will undoubtedly get an ovation from the fans, even if he manages to score a goal or two.

Dec. 4 vs. Chicago Blackhawks

“Say hello to friends you know and everyone you meet.” Was Burl Ives also referring to if you meet a rival fan? We will need a ruling on that soon, as the Blues and Chicago Blackhawks meet in early December. Even with the Blackhawks in the midst of a rebuild, these games are always highly anticipated. Last season, the Blackhawks came into St. Louis and scored eight goals in their first meeting. Maybe that can be reversed as an early Christmas gift to Blues fans?

Both teams have improved their rosters heading into the new season. The Blues have added McMichael and McTavish, while the Blackhawks paid a large price to bring in Bowen Byram. This should be a fun game.

Dec. 31 at Vegas Golden Knights

The halfway point of the season is typically in early January. As such, we can view the New Year’s holiday as the “unofficial” halfway point. When the Blues take the ice for this game, what will their season be looking like? Will it be another first half full of struggles, needing yet another second-half surge to get back into the race? Or will they be showing signs of progress? How will the new players be performing? How is the youth movement looking?

There are many things that can happen between now and New Year’s Eve. All we can say right now is that this will be a date to reflect on the season so far.

Jan. 18 at Toronto Maple Leafs

The Blues will face off against Gavin McKenna for the first time when the two teams clash in Ontario. The Toronto Maple Leafs will hope that by this game, their rough 2025-26 season will be a thing of the past, and they will move on to better things. With newcomers McKenna and Sergei Bobrovsky alongside mainstays like Auston Matthews, the Maple Leafs certainly look to be a contending team this season.

For the Blues, this game could have a “what if?” attached to it. What if the team did not have its second-half surge last season? Could McKenna be wearing the Blue Note? Alternative timelines do nothing to change reality, but that does not stop us from thinking about them all the same.

Jan. 28 vs. Colorado Avalanche

This will be the second-to-last game before the All-Star Break. Beating a Stanley Cup contender would provide some nice momentum as the Blues approach the break.

This will not be the first meeting of the season between the rivals, but it is an important game. As with the New Year’s Eve game, this can be used as a checkpoint heading into the break. How are the Blues looking? Once the break passes, teams will start planning for the trade deadline, so where the Blues stand on this date cannot be overlooked.

Feb. 15 vs. Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers have won four straight against the Blues. Trevor Zegras had a big game last November, scoring two goals and recording an assist, then got the winner in the shootout. The “Broad Street Bullies” may have lost out on Leo Carlsson and Claude Giroux, but they are coming off an impressive run to the second round last season and should be in the thick of things once again.

With the Super Bowl having concluded the day before, we can consider this day the official beginning of the playoff race. There will be about two months left in the season with the trade deadline right around the corner. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

Feb. 21 vs. Utah Mammoth

The Blues end February with a four-game homestand that starts against the Utah Mammoth. Eight points are on the line, and three of the four teams were in the playoffs a year ago. This will be a stretch that could make or break the team’s season.

It is fitting that the first game comes against the Mammoth. The two teams are building an under-the-radar rivalry that dates back to Utah’s time in Arizona. They played four close games last season and will already have two under their belt in 2026-27.

March 13 vs. Anaheim Ducks

The trade deadline has not yet been announced for the season. However, it will likely be shortly before this game if we use last season as a reference. If the deadline has passed for this game, how will the Blues look? Will Jordan Binnington still be on the team? What about Pavel Buchnevich? Could a trade to bring in an elite player be made?

Alexander Steen’s first deadline as general manager (GM) could be an interesting one. Given where the Blues are, this could lead to a “hockey trade.” Steen trades NHL talent for NHL talent, similar to the Kyrou-for-McMichael trade.

March 23 at Winnipeg Jets

The Blues and Winnipeg Jets meet in a late-season game that could have playoff implications. Even if the Jets have moved on from Connor Hellebuyck, they will still have Stuart Skinner between the pipes.

Both teams took steps backward last season, but should take steps forward this season. In a talented Central Division, it seems the best chance for either team to make the playoffs is the wild card. This could be an important game in the race.

April 4 at San Jose Sharks

The last week of the regular season. Both teams could be in the playoff race.

The San Jose Sharks dealt the Blues a blow to their playoff chances last season when Adam Gaudette scored with 21 seconds left to break a 4-4 tie. The loss was the first of a pair that derailed the team’s momentum. Could the stage be set for another key game in the season’s final week? Furthermore, could both teams be playing for the postseason this time?

April 10 vs. Utah Mammoth

For the third straight season, the Blues play the Mammoth to end the season. In 2025, a 6-1 win sent the Blue Note to the postseason. Last season, a 5-3 win gave the team a nice conclusion to their season. What could be in store for 2027?

Unlike the last two seasons, both teams could be in the playoff picture, whether it be fighting for a spot, fighting for seeding, or simply resting starters. Of course, there is always the possibility of a winner-take-all game for the last playoff spot. That would make for a great atmosphere at the Enterprise Center, but fans of both teams will probably be out of teeth and hair by the end of the night.

Hockey Is Almost Back!

It will not be long now. Our Blues are almost back. Before we know it, training camp will be here. Then, it will be the preseason. Then, the fun truly begins.

Hang in there, St. Louis. We are almost there.
