The Nashville Predators (6-4-5) started off the month of November with a signature win. It was a steep task against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, but they were up to the task, demolishing the Hurricanes 4-1 in a huge win.
Game Recap
The scoring started quickly for Nashville. At 7:29 in the first period, Filip Forsberg found a wide-open Nick Perbix streaking to the net, and Perbix netted it in to make it 1-0 Nashville. That was Perbix’s first goal since Dec. 31, 2025.
Roman Josi potted one in at 3:29 in the second period to make it 2-0. The Hurricanes answered, though, with Jackson Blake collecting his own rebound off a Josi block and redirecting it in to make it 2-1 Hurricanes.
The third period was all Nashville. Adam Edstrom tipped a Josi shot out of midair to score his sixth goal of the season and make it 3-1, and for the cherry on top, Ross Colton potted the empty-net goal to send the Predators to a surprising 4-1 win over the Hurricanes.
An Homage From One Goaltender to Another
Last night was a special one for Nashville goaltenders. The Predators honored longtime goaltender Pekka Rinne before he’s inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame next week. It was Rinne’s birthday, too.
“Well, Pekka [Rinne] is one of the all-time best goalies, but also one of the best human beings and teammates.” Predators head coach Andrew Brunette said. “To see when he’s around, to see Roman [Josi], Fil [Forsberg], Juice [Juuse Saros], the guys that played with him, just kind of uplifts them, and it’s almost like you don’t want to let him down, which is pretty cool to see. And that’s the impact that Pekka’s had for this organization, and that’s why he’s a Hall of Famer, and he’s a Hall of Fame person too.”

What better way to honor the greatest goaltender in Predators history than by his air-apparent delivery of a gem of a performance? Saros was awesome, stopping 29 of 30 shots for a .967 save percentage. Considering Rinne’s last game in a Predators’ uniform was a shutout against the Hurricanes on May 10, 2021, it was almost too perfect of a time for Saros’ performance.
“Yeah, no way with his big brother here,” Josi said of Saros’ inspired play with Rinne in the building. “He was amazing. He was great. He made some amazing saves when we needed him. He’s been doing it all year. It was pretty cool for all of us to have Pekks in the building.”
Adam Edstrom Is on Fire
It’s hard to believe the Predators acquired Edstrom for just a fifth-round pick and a 25-year-old minor-league center (Massimo Rizzo). Edstrom has been a money acquisition for Predators general manager Chris MacFarland, establishing himself as a legitimate scoring threat, especially on the penalty kill.
With his most recent goal against the Hurricanes, he has a three-game point streak, and he now has six goals in 15 games, which ranks third on the team, ahead of Forsberg (5). He’s been on fire recently.
Filip Forsberg Has Regained His Touch
You know who else has been on fire recently? Forsberg. He had a stretch at the beginning of the season where he didn’t score a goal until Oct. 17 against the St. Louis Blues. He may have gone seven games without a goal, but he still had six assists.
Since then, he has scored five goals and earned eight assists in the past eight games, which is an insane pace. He had two assists in the game against Carolina, increasing his multi-point streak to five games. He’s been rolling for the Predators, and he leads the team with 19 points. It’s a career-high pace for him.
Brunette remained confident in Forsberg even during the goal drought. “I never really worried…he had 13 attempts on Tuesday and 16 or something on Thursday. They’re going to go in. It was nice for him to finally get in for him to breathe a little bit, but I was never really worried in him,” said Brunette after Nashville’s win against St. Louis, where he potted his first goal of the season. Glad to see his confidence paying off.
Standings/Schedule
The Predators now have 17 points in 15 games. That puts them at the No. 5 spot in the Central Division and in a wild-card spot in the Western Conference, two points ahead of the Blues (15). They’re just three away from taking the third spot from either the Dallas Stars or the Colorado Avalanche.
Speaking of Colorado, Nashville travels to Ball Arena to play the Avalanche on Thursday, Nov. 5, marking MacFarland’s first game back in Colorado since he departed the organization over the 2026 offseason. After the game, the Predators will return home to play the Blues on Nov. 7. Then, the Predators embark on a five-game road trip, playing four straight teams from the Pacific Division (Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Vegas Golden Knights, and San Jose Sharks) before facing the Minnesota Wild to cap off the road trip.
