San Jose Mercury News
Social Media truly begins with the newspaper and the Mercury News is the main source of news for the city of San Jose. David Pollak is the Sharks beat writer for the Mercury News and has covered the team since they entered the NHL. He interviews players and other members of the organization as well reports recent happenings with the team. He is usually one of the first people to break the news in San Jose since he has a close bond with the players after covering the team for over two decades now. Pollak also has a blog called, “Working the Corners” where he shares some of his own thoughts.

CSN Bay Area/ California
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area is the online home of the San Jose Sharks while CSN California provides coverage on television. For 20 seasons, five time Emmy winner Randy Hahn has been the play-by-play commentator for the Sharks. Drew Remenda was his partner in crime for nearly 15 seasons winning four Emmy’s himself. At this time no decision has been made on his replacement but it could be Bret Hedican, former Stanley Cup winner and current CSN analyst. Another possibility would be Brodie Brazil another CSN analyst and reporter for the team. They both do a great job providing in depth analysis inside the glass as well as pre-game and post-game reactions. Kevin Kurz is the teams insider reporter bringing you rumors, updates and reports on things before they happen.

San Jose Sharks Website
The main website for the San Jose Sharks will always have the most recent news that is going on with the team as well as videos, opportunities for fans, and community involvement. It is also where long time radio broadcaster, Dan Rusanowsky, shares some of his thoughts. Former player and current radio commentator, Jamie Baker, also shares his thoughts here as well.

Worcester Sharks
Located in Massachusetts, Worcester is the only minor league affiliate to San Jose. The team has not made the playoffs since 2010 and does not appear to be any closer to changing their fortunes next year. It is tough to have a successful minor league team if the better players are consistently being called up. Their homepage is very similar to San Jose’s with recent news, videos, and community involvement. Eric Lindquist is the play-by-play announcer both for the TV and radio broadcasts. He also manages the teams twitter account.

The Hockey Writers
If reporters provide the facts then bloggers most certainly mold the opinions. Blogs show forms of opinion in their articles but they base these off of facts just like any good argument should. A reporter can not make such arguments for fear of losing their job. At THW there is a dedicated group of writers/bloggers that cover each NHL team. All year they cover the San Jose Sharks and provide thoughts on the teams direction and recent moves within the organization. These articles are meant to be thought provoking and discussion based instead of a day by day report. This is truly is where the social part of social media comes into play.
