Alex Misiak, a more effective player in the offensive zone of the ice, has put himself in a good position heading into the 2025 NHL Draft. Coming to the United States Hockey League (USHL) in January after spending time with two different teams in Slovakia, Misiak found his game taking a bit longer to adapt to the North American game, but he put up a solid draft-year season.

When Misiak has the puck on his stick, he shows great flashes of high-end skill. Thanks to his strong playmaking and vision, he constantly scans the ice for an open teammate and makes the available pass. His playmaking is not the only thing he can do in the offensive zone, though, as he also possesses a strong shot in his arsenal. In the short time he suited up in a Blackhawks uniform, he showed that his shot was efficient and effective, scoring seven goals on 50 shots on goal.

Away from the puck, the Slovakian-born Misiak has the IQ and wherewithal to try and get himself into a good spot for a pass from a teammate and is always moving around the offensive zone. Overall, his offensive game sticks out the most when watching him play.
On the defensive side of the puck, Misiak needs to improve his game. He sometimes struggles to pick up his assignments and coasts in the defensive zone. When fully engaged, he shows the capability of playing physically and flashes solid defense.

Alex Misiak – NHL Draft Projection
Being viewed as a “raw talent,” Misiak has plenty of upside to his game. His defensive game is lacking, so he will likely be taken in the third or fourth round of this year’s draft. His older brother, Martin, was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round in 2023.
Quotables
“While Misiak didn’t do a whole lot – and he’s small – I thought he was energetic and made defenders make quicker decisions with the puck. I’ve seen him be productive internationally in the past so I was disappointed to see him mainly there in an energy role, but he can definitely skate and there’s some potential for him to play a bigger role as the seasons wears on.”- Steven Ellis, Daily Faceoff on Misiak’s play at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup
“Misiak is a fast winger who has some flashy playmaking abilities. When he was on the ice, he showed some serious upside. Since moving to the USHL, he has become a point-per-game player due to a few things. Away from the puck, he positions himself really well, giving his teammates an option to move the puck. He is also willing to get involved physically, attacking on the forecheck and finishing checks. He just constantly moves. When he did have the puck, he made a few eye-opening passes, and although they didn’t set up anything dangerous, they should have.”- Kyle Pereira, FC Hockey
