Brad Bombardir will be announced later today by the Minnesota Wild as the new Director of Player Development and will join the Wild management in Los Angeles today for the NHL Draft starting tomorrow ( 7 p.m. EST on Versus).
This is a new position for the Wild created by General Manger Chuck Fletcher and the hockey operations staff. Bombardir will also maintain his current duties as the Senior Director of Community Partnerships.
As Director of Player Development Bombardir will be a liaison between the prospects in the system and the Wild management. He will be in charge implementing programs to assistin their development and evaluating them.
As a former player for the Wild Bombardir was one of the most popular players in the franchise’s history. Picked up via trade with the New Jersey Devils in 2000 he was part of the inaugural team and played 212 games as a member of the Minnesota Wild. He was named (monthly) captain of the Wild seven times (a franchise record) and was active in the community visiting local schools and hospitals.
