The Connecticut Whale have put forward Jessica Koizumi to a new contract, the team announced Thursday. She’s inked a one-year, $14,000 contract. That’s quite a large step down from the $20,500 deal the veteran played under last year.
During the regular season she put up a pair of goals and seven points through 15 games. She additionally put up a single assist during the postseason, as the Whale were eliminated in three by the Buffalo Beauts.
“I’m excited to re-sign with the Whale for year two!” Koizumi said in the team’s announcement. “I am looking forward to joining our core group from last season and welcoming the new additions.
“Our last season was cut short with a disappointing playoff run and we have unfinished business in bringing the Isobel Cup to Connecticut,” she added. “I hope our fans will follow us to our new venue in Northford because they are the best in the league!”
NWHL free agency closes on July 31.
