Dumba, 22, had his best NHL season in 2015-16, posting career highs in games played (81), goals (10), assists (16) and points (26). It marked Dumba’s first full season in the NHL after playing parts of the previous two seasons with the Wild. In 152 career NHL games, Dumba has registered 19 goals, 44 points and 63 penalty minutes.
The 6′, 180-pound blueliner was originally selected by the Wild 7th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. A native of Regina Saskatchewan, Dumba played parts of four seasons with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2009 until 2013 before his rights were traded to the Portland Winterhawks in December 2013.
During the 2013-14 season, the Wild agreed to loan Dumba to Canada’s 2014 World Junior Championship team where he played in seven games and recorded one assist and 12 penalty minutes.
With today’s two-year contract, the Wild have shown that the team sees Dumba as an important piece of its future moving forward.
