The Pittsburgh Penguins have unveiled their 24-man roster for the 2016 rookie tournament taking place in London, Ont. on Sept. 16-18. Pens prospects will face prospect squads from the Montreal Canadiens (roster), Ottawa Senators (roster) and Toronto Maple Leafs (roster) as the team barrels toward training camp.
Roster highlights for the Penguins include second-year forward Oskar Sundqvist, who saw some limited ice-time last season, grabbing 18 regular season games and two postseason contests.
Thomas Di Pauli will also appear on the Penguins roster. The former Notre Dame forward signed a deal as a college free agent on Aug. 19. He was a Washington Capitals draft pick who decided to test the market instead of inking with his draft team.
Also making an appearance will be Josh Archibald, Jean-Sebastien Dea, Dominik Simon and goaltender Tristan Jarry, all of whom served as black aces during the team’s Stanley Cup run. Daniel Sprong is not listed on the team’s roster due to shoulder surgery that will keep him on the shelf for another four to five months.
