Dallas Stars Announce Traverse City Roster

The Dallas Stars have announced the rookie roster they will take to the 2016 Traverse City Prospects Tournament.

Their roster showcases some of the great talent in their system that’s maybe a step below their marquee prospects like Esa Lindell, Julius Honka and Jason Dickinson, none of which will be attending the tournament. Lindell will be skating with Team Finland at the World Cup of Hockey during the Traverse City tourney.

An exciting addition to this year’s team will be highly touted Russian prospect Denis Gurianov. He was picked up by the Stars in the 2015 draft and was seen as a high-risk, high-reward player. However, though he was just 18, he had something of a disappointing KHL season, posting only four goals and an assist in limited time with Lada Togliatti. He was also a surprise cut from Russia’s World Junior team after losing his temper in a scrimmage and handing out a violent slash.

Also highlighting the forward group is 22-year-old forward Devin Shore, who averaged over a point per game in the AHL last season. Cole Ully and Remi Elie are among other veteran prospects up front making the trek. On the blue line the team has a few interesting prospects headed to Michigan, including Chris Martenet and Ludwig Bystrom.

The tournament kicks off on Sept. 16 with prospect squads from Dallas, Detroit, Carolina, Chicago, Columbus, Minnesota, St. Louis and the New York Rangers descending on Traverse City, Michigan for the annual event.
