Ducks Sign Nick Jensen to 2-Year Contract

According to Pierre LeBrun, Nick Jensen has signed a two-year contract to join the Anaheim Ducks. The deal is worth $2.25 million per season.

Jensen Signs in Anaheim

Jensen, 35, has spent the last two seasons with the Ottawa Senators, helping them reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs both times. In 61 games last season, he scored four goals and added 13 assists. He did not play in the playoffs due to an injury that ended his season in March.

In 694 regular-season games, Jensen has scored 26 goals and recorded 172 points. His mobility and puck-handling have made him a valuable defenseman for the teams he has played for. In addition to the Senators, he has played for the Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals.

Role With the Ducks

The Senators benefited from Jensen’s time on the team. The Ducks will likely feel the same.

He will likely play on the Ducks’ bottom pair. However, he could play on the second pair if needed. His mobility will make him an asset in the lineup. Perhaps his biggest value will come in the defensive zone. Jensen is the type of player who will use his body to block attacking players from the goal, keeping the traffic light in front of his own net. He will consistently average over 17 minutes a game.

Jensen also brings leadership and playoff experience to the locker room. He played in the playoffs with Washington five times and once with the Senators. He has yet to win the Stanley Cup, however. At 35 years old, the clock is ticking on his NHL career. The 2026-27 season could very well be his last chance to get his hands on Lord Stanley’s Cup.
