Evgeni Malkin Welcomes Newborn Son

By Mike Necciai May 31st, 2016

Evgeni Malkin is having quite the eventful week. Aside from currently playing in the Stanley Cup Final, he and fiance Anna Kasterova applied for their marriage license just four days ago. Now, the two of them have become parents after welcoming their newborn son into the world.

Наши искренние поздравления Евгению Малкину и Анне Кастеровой! Здоровья Никите, счастья молодым родителям! Урааааа!:)) // Our congratulations!

A post shared by "Metallurg" Magnitogorsk (@hcmetallurg) on May 31, 2016 at 10:29am PDT

The above Instagram post, courtesy of Magnitogorsk of the KHL, shows one very important aspect of the birth announcement. Apparently baby Nikita weighed in at 7-pounds and 1-ounce.

Coincidence?

Nikita also had impeccable timing, at least from a hockey perspective. Malkin’s Pittsburgh Penguins are off today but return to action tomorrow night for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, which they lead the San Jose Sharks 1-0 after defeating them at Consol Energy Center on Monday night.

Congratulations to Evgeni Malkin and his soon-to-be wife Anna. Maybe Nikita can join the already extensive list of babies to have their picture taken in the Stanley Cup?
