Maple Leafs Mutually Part Ways with Brandon Pridham & Derek Clancey

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that they have mutually agreed to part ways with assistant general managers Brandon Pridham and Derek Clancey.

This is yet another change that has come to the front office since the organization hired the new front office duo of John Chayka and Mats Sundin.

Pridham & Clancey Part Ways

One thing that Chayka made clear when he was hired was that the organization was going to have a lot of organizational change as they shift into a new era of Maple Leafs hockey. That was again brought up when they fired Craig Berube last week. And Leafs Nation is seeing another example of it again with the recent news of Pridham and Clancey parting ways.

In a statement made by the Maple Leafs, here’s what Chayka and the organization said about Pridham and Clancey.

“Brandon has played an integral role in the organization over the past 12 seasons,” Chayka said in a statement. “We are sincerely appreciative of Brandon’s professionalism, commitment, and dedication to the Maple Leafs throughout his tenure. Derek also brought valuable experience and insight to our hockey operations department during his time with the club. We thank both Brandon and Derek for their contributions to the organization and wish them and their families all the very best moving forward.”

This does officially mark an end of an era in Maple Leafs hockey. Pridham has been with the club for the last 12 seasons and played an instrumental part in them navigating contracts within the salary cap. Now, Chayka and the Maple Leafs will need to find other assistant general managers that are as good capologists as Pridham was, which will be extremely difficult to do.
