The Detroit Red Wings will be without defenseman Mike Green for two to three weeks, GM Ken Holland told the media on Monday, reports MLive’s Ansar Khan.
Green has already missed on game with what is being labeled an upper body injury.
Green has struggled to step into his new team and begin to produce and be the power play specialist he was for years with the Washington Capitals. He has just one assist and no goals through seven games.
Additionally, Khan reports, Kyle Quincey is expected to be out through the weekend as he goes through concussion protocol.
If that was not enough on the injury front for Detroit, Brad Richards has gone to New York to see a specialist about some lower back pain he’s experiencing. Richards missed time over the weekend with the back injury.
There’s no such thing as a good time for an injury, but these are all coming as Detroit has struggled through a few games, allowing Calgary to come back on them and win in over time and then requiring a late game surge to eek out an overtime win over Vancouver.
