The Columbus Blue Jackets have given defenseman Oleg Yevenko a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Monday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The former UMASS Amherst defender signed with Columbus as a free agent in October and has spent the entire season playing in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters, where he has a goal and three assists in 48 games.
The 25-year-old, 6-foot-7 defenseman has logged 142 penalty minutes in those 48 games this season. That’s enough to have him ranked third in the AHL in penalty minutes.
