For the last game of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Takeover Tour, the Ottawa Charge took on the Boston Fleet in St. Louis on March 29. Despite the Fleet leading the majority of the game, the Charge scored two goals late in the third period to take the victory 2-1.
Game Recap
Eight minutes into the first period, the Fleet were the first team to get on the board. Off a missed pass from the Charge, Susanna Tapani took control of the puck. She skated up to Gwyneth Philips and took a shot from the center of the ice. She scored the first goal of the game for the Fleet.
Despite 12 shots on net for each team in the second, neither team changed the scoreboard. The second period ended with the Fleet still up by one.
With just three minutes left in the game, the Charge tied the score. While the Fleet tried to get the puck out of the Charge’s offensive zone, Jincy Roese kept it in. She sent a pass to Shiann Darkangelo at the center of the ice. She hit the puck high, but Tereza Vanisova caught it at the faceoff dot. Vanisova took a shot that flew through the traffic and into the back of Aerin Frankel’s net. The Fleet challenged for a high stick, but the goal was deemed good.

Loren Gabel sat for delay of game due to the challenge. Just 36 seconds later, Vanisova scored once more. Roese had the puck at the blue line and passed to Vanisova. She passed it to Gabbie Hughes in the faceoff circle. Hughes took a shot, but Frankel blocked it. Brianne Jenner was in front of the net and recovered the rebound. Jenner’s shot was also blocked, but Vanisova recovered the second rebound. With a third shot on net, Vanisova scored her second goal to give the Charge the victory.
