Seattle Kraken’s 3 Stars of February

February is now over, and not only was it the shortest month in the calendar year, but it was also the shortest month in the NHL calendar. It was broken up by a three-week break for the 2026 Winter Olympics, where NHL players participated for the first time since 2014.

The Seattle Kraken played five games throughout the month, two in the beginning and three after the Olympics. They had a record of 2-3-0, earning four points out of a possible ten. The Kraken are currently in a playoff spot by the skin of their teeth, sitting in the second wild card spot. Although Seattle played its fewest number of games in a single month for the season, there were still some standout players. Here are the Kraken’s three stars of the month for February.

Third Star – Shane Wright

In the Kraken’s last game before the break, they took on the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 4. They beat the Kings 4-2, and two of the four Kraken goals were scored by Shane Wright. He opened the scoring and then scored a power-play goal as the fourth and final goal to ensure the Kraken’s victory.

In Seattle’s second game back from the break, Wright took a shot, but Joel Hofer made the save. Kaapo Kakko picked up the rebound and sent it home, with Wright picking up the primary assist. Unfortunately, this was the only goal the Kraken scored in this game, and the St. Louis Blues won 5-1.

The Kraken played five games last month, and Wright picked up three points in just two games. He has been in the trade rumor mill since the beginning, and with a good performance for February, this might have just shot up his trade value. The trade deadline is March 6, and with it drawing nearer, the Kraken have some decisions to make.

Second Star – Chandler Stephenson

Chandler Stephenson’s performance has been a surprise this season, and February was no exception. Stephenson recorded five points via one goal and four assists. He scored his one goal and recorded two of his assists in the last game of the month on Feb. 28.

Stephenson has been averaging 19:35 on the ice this season, the most ice time he has recorded in his career thus far. He has been centering the second line, elevating to the top six. His 39 points for the season have proven his ability to find scoring chances.

Stephenson is currently in the second season of a seven-year contract. He might not score in every game, but he has proven he has the ability to flex where he is needed, which is necessary with this Kraken lineup.

First Star – Jordan Eberle

Jordan Eberle not only kicked off scoring for the month, but he also closed out February. He scored the first goal on Feb. 3 against the Anaheim Ducks and then netted an empty net goal on Feb. 28. Eberle recorded four points, three of which were recorded on Feb. 28 against the Vancouver Canucks.

Against the Canucks, Eberle originally scored his third hat trick, and fans rained their hats down on the ice to celebrate as he hit the empty-netter. After the celebration, the NHL announced Eberle’s second goal of the game was actually credited to Matty Beniers, with Eberle getting the primary assist. He still walked away with the point, but this was now the second time in two months that a Kraken player had a goal changed to an assist after the fans celebrated the player’s hat trick. The first was Jared McCann back in January.

Even though Eberle didn’t get his second career hat trick in Kraken colors, he still had a fantastic month, especially to close it out. Let’s hope he can keep this momentum rolling in March; the Kraken have a lot more games to play than they did in February, so they could use their captain’s scoring expertise.
