Jets Sign Iafallo to 3-Year Contract Extension

The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Alex Iafallo to a three-year contract extension worth $3.67 million per season. The new deal will kick in next season.

The 31-year-old left shooter has 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points and a plus-21 rating in 81 games this season and has proven to be a versatile player who can be moved between the bottom and top six as needed. He is currently playing on the first line with Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele due to Gabriel Vilardi’s injury.

The Eden, New York product is in his second season with the Jets since being acquired from the Los Angeles Kings as part of the June 2023 trade that sent Pierre-Luc Dubois the other way.

Iafallo went undrafted and joined the Kings for the 2017-18 campaign after spending four seasons with the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In 583-career games between the Jets and Kings, he has 111 goals and 151 assists for 262 points and five goals and five assists for 10 points in 21-career playoff games.

He was set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer but last month expressed his desire to stay in Winnipeg, saying about his representation and the Jets organization: “They’re trying to figure something out, which is good. Obviously not thinking about it too much. I’d like to stay, so we’re just going to go from there.” (From “Iafallo wants to stay in River City,” Winnipeg Free Press, March 11, 2025.)
