Edmonton Oilers Fire Scouting Staff

On Saturday night it came to light that the Edmonton Oilers have fired four members of their scouting staff, including head amateur scout Stu MacGregory, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. MacGregor joined the Oilers in 200o and become the team’s head amateur scout in 2007.

The firings included head pro scout Morey Gare, according to Sportsnet’s Elliote Friedman.

The timing of the firings is interesting. For new GM Peter Chiarelli to fire main players on his scouting staff with just five days before the 2015 draft is a major statement.

At least the team won’t need any help with their first pick of the draft.

The 2015 NHL Entry Draft will take place on June 26-27 in Sunrise, Florida.
