Winnipeg Jets’ first-line forwards Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele have both set new career highs in points.
Considering they’ve been joined at the hip for a number of seasons now, it’s only fitting they both achieved new personal bests in the same game, Thursday evening’s 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars.
Connor scored two third-period goals to record his 93rd and 94th points of the campaign, tying and surpassing the 93 he recorded in 2021-22. His 94 points and counting are also the highest single-season total in Jets 2.0 history. Connor also reached the 40-goal plateau for the second time in his career with his second tally.
Scheifele, with an assist on Connor’s first goal of the night, recorded his 85th point of the campaign to surpass the 84 he recorded in 2018-19. If the centre can record one more assist in the Jets’ final three regular-season games, he will surpass his record of 47 helpers he set last season.
The Jets are back in action Saturday evening in Chicago against the Blackhawks. If the Jets get one point or the Stars lose in any fashion, the Jets will clinch first place in the Central Division and Western Conference.
